    Before I retired a few years ago, I served as the Deputy Superintendent of Schools for the Greece Central School District. Among other duties, I headed up the district's Department of Human Resources serving approximately 3,000 employees. In that role, I tried to emphasize with all of our administrators and supervisors the importance of recognizing employees for exceptional performance. In this instance, I'd like to do the same as a "consumer" of what Silver Lake Marine has to offer.

    You may or may not be aware that I have had some problems with the travel cover that came with my 2012 Crestliner. The cover developed several tears, even in its first year, which required repairs by your canvas man. The boat is just a bit over three years old, and therefore past the warranty period for the cover. I informed your Parts Manager, Marcus Chandler, of the situation, and boy did he come through! Somehow he managed to get the Crestliner people to provide me with a brand new cover at no cost! I don't know how difficult that was to do, but I imagine it took quite a bit of convincing. He was also very professional and personable in my conversations with him. This is why I have always, and will always continue to speak very highly of Silver Lake Marine, its employees, and the services you offer!

    I just wanted to give you an update on our new BRYANT CALANDRA. The mighty Niagara River this weekend was no match for the new boat. We were out both days, and although the river was not as calm as it could have been, the Calandra handled amazingly well. With our last (3) boats, I would request that Rich go out of his way to miss the wakes, but this weekend, I actually requested that he hit them on purpose to see what the Bryant response was. And it was smooth and easy. Since, as you know. I have a need for speed, I made sure I got the speedometer up there just to check things out. Our passengers commented there was no comparison to our previous boats in comfort and handling.

    It was also great to watch the other boaters turn heads to check out the new boat. Watching and hearing them say what a sharp boat it is was, was heard frequently and of course I love the fact that we are one of the first few to have the Bryant line on the Niagara River!

    Even the Sheriff who did the Official 2014 Boat Safety Check before we even hit the water commented that it was a sharp boat, and that he never saw one before only in a boating magazine!

    Of course, I need to mention that Maggie (our doggie) loves her new ride also, she quite proudly was the Bow-wow rider on her new name sake the Maggie Too and felt quite at home on her new vessel.

    I thank you for introducing us to Silver Lake Marine new line of Bryant Boats. As you know, our intent was not to purchase another boat this year. But just couldnt resist this one! I think I am going to be banned from Boat Shows for the next few years!

    Let your Mom know that the official boat christening will take place next weekend and please give her a special Thank You from us!!

    I wanted to send a hearty and sincere thank you for the entire experience of buying a boat from Silver Lake Marine. Early on, it was out intention to possibly buy a 17-19 foot bowrider, which is what brought us to the boat show. You spent considerable time with us, and never pressured us. You mentioned the show specials in case we were ready to buy, and invited us to come to see your storefront.

    After considerable conversation with my wife, we opted for a used boat. You happened to have a good candidate, albeit slightly out of my price range. We opted to drive the hour from home, and see the boat. You changed your plans, postponed your ski trip with your family, and met with us in person on a morning your store was closed. After some ethical negotiating, we settled on our price and went home.

    I suspect if I shopped long enough, I probably could have saved a couple of bucks. However, you were willing to show us how to trailer the boat, launch, operate, and recover. Not many people would go out with their customer on a 42 degree, rainy morning to ensure customer satisfaction. You however, had absolutely no hesitation. Throughout the entire process, you communicated quickly and efficiently, and stood by your word, no matter how small the detail seemed. Part of what we paid for was the service which we received, and no doubt will continue to receive as we enjoy our boat. I would recommend your establishment, and you to anyone in the market for a boat, new or used. It is worth the drive to get educated, treated well, and go home with a quality product at a fair price.

    I purchased a used Johnson 120 outboard from you back in May. (saw it on Craig`s List) Skyler went the extra mile to ensure that I knew what I was buying and that I had everything that I would need to install it myself on my older bass boat. Over the years I have owned several boats and have dealt with many other dealers. Until my experience at SLM; I felt that all boat dealers were only out to make the most money they could whether it was on the sale or for subsequent service and really could care less about the customer. It was definitely not that way at all at SLM.     Recieved card in mail several weeks ago on storage. Storage? No chance on this boat; the motor has little chance of cooling off with Ken Dewey and I. Out at least once a week minimum, some time two or three times a week, or twice a day. We get tons of compliments on the graphics on Crestliner logo and color. In short a great great boat . Love the way it runs through the waves! A boat like this has been way over due.. Nothing flies around while motoring to new locations. The Mercury must be one of a kind the way it is easy on gas even while tubing. We dont even miss those plywood planks we sat on for fifty years with the last boat...........Isn`t this weather great ?

    Dear Quinn,

    As a fisherman of numerous inland lakes and on the Great Lakes, I have ventured into more than one marina. Over the past 20 years or so, my wife Micki and I have attended a number of boat shows in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, and many other smaller venues. Weve always had a specific laundry list of items to check out and the number one item has always been the personality and reputation of the boat dealership. After changing jobs and selling my fishing boat two years ago, it was time to purchase a new boat one that was more in tune with our changed lifestyle. In January of 2004 we set out on a mission to attend as many boat shows as possible and launch our new boat on Chautauqua Lake by May 2004.

    Of course, we had our list of exactly what we wanted our boat to be, but remained open on our choice of manufacturer and dealer. Through the end of January, we had attended a number of shows but, honestly, we hadn`t had much luck in finding the Right Dealer. There are a number of boat dealers in our immediate area and I am familiar with most of the people whom operate them. The marina on our lake is a Sea Ray dealer and we nearly decided that, due to their close proximity, they might as well be the one to purchase from then we ran into Silver Lake Marine at the Buffalo Boat Show.

    At the time, I was not familiar with Stingray Powerboats, but the general boat style we thought we were looking for was on the floor at Silver Lake Marine booth. As I went through my checklist (opening storage areas and kicking the tires) Micki started through the literature, comparing other manufacturers models, options, etc. After a few minutes, Quinn boarded the boat (a 220 DR Deckboat) and naturally, I thought: here we go - another sales pitch about how our boat is the best. To the contrary, he helped us cut right to the chase on the model comparisons; I was impressed with his information and with the fact that he pointed out both the positives and negatives of the 220 DR as it would apply to our style of boating. After a quick trip to their showroom on Silver Lake later that week and after meeting a few other people at the Marina, Micki and I were convinced that we had found our boat (the 240 LR Bowrider) as well as our dealer!

    It was in February that we visited the Marina to make our purchase and it was in May that we picked her up and launched our 240 LR on Chautauqua Lake - right on schedule. Much like a new car, we loved our new boat, but as always, there were a few minor issues that needed to be addressed. Although Silver Lake is 2 1/2 hours from home, we quickly found that our decision to buy our boat there was the right one. Although it is a bit of a drive, the Marina took care of every issue and the boat has been great. Dealing with the rest of the SLM team has also been a pleasant experience. In fact, instead of storing the boat locally this winter, we have taken it back to Silver Lake for off-season storage and we are already looking forward to a great season next year!

    We so enjoyed the Stingray Rendezvous, the 4th of July Picnic, and the Fireworks program at the Ring of Fire. Having so many boats tied together, all the people, and the water sports made this summer the best.

We had had an issue with our pontoon boat starting a week ago, and our neighbor thought it might be the starter. When we called Tammy yesterday morning, we explained that we also needed marine gas, so she suggested that we call her from our dock when we were ready to head to the marina (figuring we'd either be stuck or ready to come get gas!)

    The boat started right up. Your Bruce met our Bruce at the end of the dock and helped with the inaugural docking for gas, and Brandon was a sweetheart. Bruce and a technician (didn't get his name) got on the boat and tightened a bolt , assuring us the starter was fine.

    Everyone -- Tammy, Bruce, Brandon, the tech, and you -- has been so nice about this first visit back to Silver Lake Marine. We wish you sold cars, appliances and furniture.

    Monday we took delivery of our new Premier Cast-A-Way 221. It is a dream come true for Wendy and I. We wish to express our thanks to Skyler for his guidance in matching us with the perfect boat for our needs. As a fisherman, that boat is like having a summer cottage on Silver Lake with the added benefit of what I call `full concierge service` as provide by Silver Lake Marine. It just doesn`t get any better that this!

    I also want to thank you for allowing the entire team at the marina for taking a few minutes out of a very busy work day to share in celebrating our new boat. It was important to us to be able to say Thank You to all of the staff for making our boating experiences the best they could be. Last season we had a few tribulation with an older boat that were addressed with expert attention by Tammy and the service team that made our summer season a pleasure even with a few bugs to work out of the boat.

    We have had occasion to interact with all of the team at Silver Lake Marine and have never cease to be impressed with the courtesy, friendless, expertise, and professionalism of everyone at the marina.

    Last week my wife Wendy and I were at the marina to rent slip space for the summer. I had exchanged a couple of e-mails and had one phone call with Marsha before visiting the marina. Last Friday, July 5th, we put the boat in the water.

    From the first e-mail from Marsha to the launching of the boat, we cannot express strongly enough, our satisfaction with the marina service and staff. You have exceeded all and every expectation we had. Marsha`s professionalism and personality were second to none. She is extremely efficient and goes the extra mile to make sure there are no surprises, assisting in selecting the right slip space for us from the ones available at the time, and just welcoming us to the marina.

    On the day of the launching, Quinn took care of everything. We haven`t trailered a boat in 28 years and to have him there to get the boat down the ramp and in the water was a god send. His pre-launch checks were not expected as it really is my responsibility to make sure the boat is ready to go in the water. His inspection was complete from A to Z, and his foresight in doing a couple of minor things saved much time at the slip. He also recommended a third dock line and advised us on where to rig it. We were at the marina today and completed that work. We can`t say enough about his courtesy and professionalism.

    Now for the real surprise. When I went to the marina`s web site to send you this e-mail, I find out he is the president of the company. I realize it is a family owned business, but to have Quinn so involved in day-to-day operations left no doubt in our minds that we have chosen the right marina, and Silver Lake Marine has a customer for life.

    For many years, Wendy and I used to vacation at the Sandals all-inclusive resort in Montego Bay Jamaica. You are pampered to death at that resort. I want to state for the record that the service, and customer focus we are experiencing at Silver Lake Marine, exceeds even the level of what we have always considered the best all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean.

    Thank all of the Marina`s team for us. And please wish Quinn a Happy Birthday for us (Marsha spilled the beans).

As you know, having owned two fishing boats in the past, I had my heart set on purchasing another fishing boat. Because of some physical problems with my knees, I am so glad you suggested that a pontoon boat might be a better fit for me. You certainly were right! The Premier is everything you said it would be and more. The Yamaha outboard is so quiet, I didn`t think the engine was running until I looked. It`s so easy to get on and off of and easy to walk on. The boat is so roomy that it is even comfortable having our children and grandchildren on it. The Premier gives us a beautiful smooth ride. It has so much storage space that I can even leave all my fishing gear on the boat and not have to carry it back and forth.

    We would also like to thank you, Jane, for the excellent service and attention you have given us. A special thanks to Skyler for taking us out on our maiden voyage to familiarize us with the operation of the boat.     A TESTIMONY FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SALE

    I know this is a bit different, but I want you to know how much the folks at Silver Lake Marine care for their customers their boating family. This is a testimony to a company that supports and assists customers, even on the other side of the boating experience. Let me explain:

    My wife, Karen, and I, fulfilled a dream in 2006. With the amazing help of Quinn, Jane, and all the Silver Lake Marine staff, we purchased the [used] boat of our dreams. Our 04 Sylvan Mirage pontoon was the perfect vessel for our needs and our situation. Karen was in the midst of battling cancer, along with a bunch of other health difficulties, so we could not travel. Instead, our pontoon allowed us to experience 1-day vacations on the Erie Canal, whenever she was up to it.

    The pontoon rode so smoothly and quietly across the water, Karen never had an issue with any of the side effects one might expect when on chemotherapy and on the water at the same time! Our journeys allowed both of us to get away from our troubles for awhile, and just enjoy our mini-adventures, and one another.

    Our boat was with us for 4 wonderful years. Never a problem, never failed us, just hummed along without complaint [of course, always serviced and stored at Silver Lake Marine. In 2010, however, more health difficulties and costs surfaced for both of us, and we were forced to make the decision to find another owner for the Sylvan. With great sadness, we contacted the folks at Silver Lake Marine and shared our tale of woe.

    I could not believe how Jane and Quinn responded. They were so very supportive, and took the lead in helping us through this very rough time. They found a new family to enjoy the boat, and offered us continual support and encouragement through it all. How many other dealers would have just told us we were on our own ? Everyone at Silver Lake Marine helped us to know that we are still part of their boating family, even though we have had to give up boating for the present time. They are caring friends as well as expert boating sales and service folks. It is obvious that people come first at Silver Lake Marine.

    We all hear testimonies of great experiences in purchasing boats, but it takes some very special people at a very special place Silver Lake Marine to make even the sad experience of saying so long to boating [for now], one that is affirming and supported. Be assured that, if and when our health circumstances change, we will be in the Silver Lake Marine showroom, watching the next boat of our dreams become a reality.

    It has been a absolute pleasure working with you over the past few weeks. I initially came to Silver Lake Marine 3 years ago because of the fantastic sales and customer relationship I developed with Jim Knapp in your sales dept.

    As you know I recently had an intermittent electrical problem with my Yamaha outboard. When I took it to one of your competitors up here in Rochester. I expected the same service and professional treatment that I received at Silver Lake Marine.

    Boy, I was surprised at the total lack of professionalism I received. Not only could this Yamaha dealer not diagnose and fix my problem, they charged me over $200 and the motor was not fixed. Then when I asked for my money back they said no, it was to pay for labor. Needless to say, I will never use or recommend this facility ever. I should have come to your facility the first time, unfortunately it`s 90 miles from my home.

    You have been a total professional and absolute joy to work with. My motor is now running fine and I will pick it up tonight. Needless to say the intermittent electrical problem was a simple fix on you and your staffs part.

    I have recommended MANY of my friends to go look at your marina and see what you can offer. I speak very highly of Silver Lake Marine and I will continue to! I`m a professional engineer employed by GE and my connections are vast, I truly think I will have many opportunities to `steer` business to your facility. You can bet that when I choose to upgrade my boat, I will be at your door with cash in hand :-)

    I can`t thank you enough for restoring my faith in a customer relationship based business.

    A letter to the president of Skiers Choice;

    Dear Mr. Tinker,

    My wife and I wanted to share our wonderful experience from Silver Lake Marine, our Moomba dealer in Western New York. In todays world we are inundated with the negatives especially with the media and never the positive stories. So here is a positive story we so often never hear.

    We saw a Supra on Keuka Lake in New York last summer after we purchased a cottage and spent lots of time there using and enjoying a friends boat. Time to get our own boat we decided. So we decided to do some research and send a request to Skiers Choice for a brochure. A week later we received a package from Silver lake explaining that Moombas and Supras are both manufactured at Skiers Choice and they would be happy to serve all our boating needs even get us a supra if we wanted one. Mean while we looked at other competitor brands that were available closer to us and found the experience to be less that desirable.

    We scheduled a trip 90 miles away to Silver Lake to Check out a Moomba the day was cold and rainy. Skyler Gross our sales person was more that happy to take us for a test drive. We were not only impressed with the boats but the people that made up this little marina in Western New York. After we left and drove home we could not say enough good things about this dealer. If we were to buy a boat, it was going to be from them. (Keep in mind there is a marina less than a mile from out Lake House.)

    The winter came and went, the boats shows were upon us, and low and behold we are in our new Moomba Outback V. We went to get the boat last weekend and were warmly welcomed by all the staff including the owners. Our Boat was prominently showcased at the entrance so we could see it on the way in Is that really our boat?My wife whispers to me. This is why they are a Five Star dealer and a top 100 in the country. Skyler even had a picture of us in front of our new boat in our e-mail before we got home.

    My special thanks to Skyler, Quinn, Jane, and the rest of the staff for making our experience one of a kind. And to Skiers choice for making a great line of luxury professional grade tow boats.

    As you know, when Jim decided to buy another boat, I was a little uneasy because our previous boat was not a pleasant experience for me (as far as the ride, stability, etc.). After talking to you, you suggested that the Stingray 220 CS would not have those problems in the waters that we planned to use it in.

    So far this year we have used it in the Niagara River, Lake Erie and several of the Finger Lakes and this boat has been a pleasure to ride in. I have even become comfortable enough now where I will drive the boat and have been learning how to navigate sharp turns, wakes, starting, stopping and reverse, something I would never have been comfortable with on our other boat.     Below is the letter I sent to Stingray. We again want to thank you for all you did to get our vacation back on track, you guys have continued to make us glad we chose you as our boat dealer and if in the future we choose to purchase a newer boat and Silver Lake Marine doesnt carry it, we wont be buying it. You have us as customers for life.

    To Whom It May Concern:

    After our first day on the St. Lawrence river at the 1000 Islands (our annual vacation spot although the 1st one with our new Stingray), Im writing this letter (to be e-mailed when we arrive home) to tell you how one of your dealers/owners (Silver Lake Marine / Quinn Bellamy, Jane Bellamy) and their staff were able to turn a huge dilemma into a very successful vacation. On our way to the Islands, my greatest fear came true- a bearing blew out on my trailer on the NYS thruway, luckily not losing the wheel. So now, it is Sunday morning the marinas not open until 11 and I do not know what to do next. Calling Quinn and leaving a message for him to get, hopefully. Knowing I had to get off the NYS thruway, I had the boat towed to my work, since it was the closest point to go to see if I could fix the trailer. Upon removing the wheel, I knew more damage was done than I could fix. Now I thought our vacation was ruined. It was 10:30 and Quinn calls telling us he was off today because family was in town and he was going to spend the day on the water. He happened to check his messages, and instead of telling me he would get back to me Monday, he was concerned about our problem and he was going to make things happen. He asked me to get the boat to him, so I called the tow company that had towed me to where I was and was told they did not have a truck available. I called Quinn back and he gave me a number of a tow operator he knew but then said, No hold on, and Ill get in contact with him and set it up. OK, so now, here it is his day off, calling me to find out what is wrong, setting up the tow truck, and then as I come to find out, coming in Monday and telling his staff about why my boat was in the yard. He then asked them to do everything possible to get my trailer fixed ASAP- (basically to get it done Monday morning). Well, parts for my boat would have taken 2 to 3 days, so what does his staff do? They take parts from one of the dealers trailer to fix mine. I truly believe any other dealer would have said, Well it would be 2 to 3 days before I can get parts. However, by 11:30 he told me the boat would be fixed, come and get it, and after only losing one day on the water of vacation we were on our way again. My vacation was not a bust after all, because of Quinn, Jane and all of their wonderful staff at Silver Lake Marine who truly went out of the way to make my vacation happen. My final selling point on the Stingray was the dealership, and every time I need service or have questions they bend over backwards to accommodate us. However, this service goes way beyond any thing I ever expected.     I would think that after a year has gone by, you would focus your attention on all the potential new customers coming through the doors. That`s far from the case. You have made contact with us in one form or the other over the past year to make sure we were still satisfied. That says so much about you and the company.

    I stopped in Thursday 4/26/07 to pick up the boat from storage. Julie was so pleasant and friendly, always with a smile and a thank you. She`s that way every time we have been in the showroom.

    I had problems with my electrical on the truck/trailer. Scott took me up top in the golf cart and helped me diagnose the problem. It ended up being my truck. He could have easily said good luck and left because it had nothing to do with the boat and trailer but he stuck with me to help me further. He went back to the shop and gave me two fuses and a new LED light for a blown marker we discovered. I had my wallet out to pay him for the parts. He refused to take it and said it was a customer courtesy.

    With Sloan and I both working in customner service, we truly appreciate the effort and hard waork it takes and we thank ALL of your team for that. They take the high road with everything they do, and it shows.

    I wanted to take a moment to personally thank each and every Silver Lake Marine employee who make doing business with your company such a pleasurable experience.

    Over the years, my family and I have purchased several boats from several different marinas. The experience was always the same - good when you purchased the boat but then fell short when service was needed.

    When we first met SLM at the Rochester boat show I knew I was in for a different experience. The entire team answered all of our questions without making us feel like we were clueless. You spent the time to make sure we were comfortable not only with the product but with your way of doing business. Jim had even remembered that he had sent me an email 6 months earlier when I had requested info from the website.

    When I first arrived at the marina, I knew you were serious about the boating business; it was reflected in the cleanliness and appearance of the facility and the entire staff. We spent hours with Jim, looking at various options and configurations for the boat. Jim patiently worked with us until we were confortable that he had the right boat for us.

    When the big day arrived to pick up our new Moomba, Jim again spent the time needed not only to review all of the paprtwork but demo the boat out on the lake and make sure that everything was in working order and that I understood the operation of every feature. A much better experience than just sitting in your new boat on the trailer pretending that you are on the water!

    I have since had the pleasure (yes, pleasure) of having routine service performed on the boat. Linda and the team again spent the time needed to discuss all of my questions and explian `that little clicking noise` that I sometimes hear. The boat was ready when they said it owould be and was returned as clean as when it was dropped off.

    I cannot say enough about my experience with Silver Lake Marine. You continue to make us feel like we are part of your family and I look forward to a long realtionship in the future.
